So I came to Paris for a short getaway from school work with my dad and grandpa. We just randomly walked along the Rue Tolbiac and we found this lovely French restaurant and we decided to try.
We ate a chef's recommended 3-course menu with a cost of €25. It was delicious with an affordable price in Paris. I had a shrimp avocado salad as entrée with scallop as main dish and end with a strawberry smoothie for dessert.
A lovely restaurant! Should come if you look for an affordable restaurant :) -

This new bistro/wine bar/restaurant is what's been missing in this part of the 13th arrondissement. Classy but not stuffy, very knowledgeable staff, fun wine list, and proper bistro menu.
Le Verbalon is a wine bar, restaurant, bistro, and rôtisseurs that we've been too 3 times since it opened right after the 'la rentrée'. They serve a righteous petite dejeuner, and are open for lunch and dinner.
The dinner menu offers nightly chef's specials (usually 3 items) along with the regular menu. The entrees are quite special and one of the few places that has 5 jotas pata negra jamon iberico.
The place is nicely appointed with a pleasant area outside and nicely lit dining space inside. The bar is a real "zinc" so it looks like a traditional bistro.
The produce and meats are sourced directly from farmers so you'll find a real "fermier" quality to the veal, lamb, beef, and chicken dishes. There is always a vegetarian dish on the menu as well (pasta). They're just starting out so there's a kind of disorganization still but it's actually fun in a way.
The staff, a group of friends with backgrounds in other restaurants who decided to open their own place, are very kind and clearly know what it means to serve great food. The wine list is clearly hand-picked and from what I saw most are "vigneron independent". Though it's just opened, it's already very popular so reservation is needed (for dinner).
I highly recommend "Le Verbalon"! -

Great reviews for this bistro but reality far less than expected.
Showed up early for afternoon wine as it is an all day bistro. Good variety but hard to find out options due to prickly bartender who took away menus because they were "new" menus even though we planned and did order other wines by the glass. Stayed for dinner due to Yelp reviews.
Dinner options of the house provided adequate selection, steak, sausage salmon veal liver. Steak and potatoes were well prepared, rare but very tough. Duck was dry and potatoes were actually burned. On the plus side the charcuterie platter was generous with excellent cheese selections.
Over all service was one star and food/wine
barely 3.
